Songs from above
INQUIREThis August the London EDITION is excited to present the inaugural Songs From Above festival; a series of musical performances delivered from the spectacular balcony, overlooking the hotel’s lobby bar.
Kicking off on the 3rd August with a dreamy stripped-down evening set of psych-pop from London based four piece Gengahar, the hotel will be hosting an eclectic programme of artists on its balcony for a live musical performance each Wednesday throughout the month, from 9pm. Brassroots will take to the balcony on the 10th August for a raucous celebration from one of the best international brass groups. The 17th August will see the House Gospel Choir‘s energetic performance as they sing their classic covers, from Disclosure to Labrinth.
Steeped in jazz influences, with a voice described as a contemporary Billie Holliday, ALA.NI has wowed audiences on Later with Jules Holland and recently at Somerset House where she has been supporting Benjamin Clementine. She will make the balcony her stage on the 24th August before the series completes with the all-female, all singing Deep Throat Choir who will cover songs from Amy Winehouse to Bjork and Little Dragon on the 31st.
Locals and guests are invited to can sink into rich green velvet sofas and leather upholstered wingback chairs as the artists sing their songs from above. Under the light of Salvador Dali inspired lamps and Ingo Maurer’s silver sphere, Jason Atherton bar snacks, including a truffled Ogleshield cheese and onion toastie and chorizo croquettes will be on offer. EDITION’s crafted cocktails will also be served up including a Veuve Cliquot Songs from Above cocktail created especially for the series.
Songs From Above will take place each Wednesday in August from 3rd – 31st at 9PM.
